Visiting the Aquarium

Come and check out the wonderful diversity of life within our rocky tide pools, kelp forests, and eel grass beds! There are many interactive opportunities, with knowledgeable and friendly staff to engage and entertain.

Aquarium operations

The Aquarium is open from spring through the summer each year. Specimens from representative local species are collected from the marine environment in the spring and returned to the area of collection at the end of the season. All required collection and release permitting are obtained.

Water is pumped with minimal filtering and no temperature control from Discovery Passage, and is returned to Discovery Passage directly from the tanks. The tanks essentially are an extension of the natural marine environment.
