Join us for the 2021 Annual Release Party this October 3rd!
The Discovery Passage Aquarium is celebrating its annual release party on October 3rd, 2021 at 2:00PM.
The aquarium will still be open from 10:00AM to 1:00PM to get your last aquarium fix in for the year. We will be closing at 1:00PM to begin preparations and will be starting the release party at 2:00PM!
At 2:00PM, we are asking all participants to begin lining up at the base of the aquarium stairs to begin accepting animals for you to release! As in previous years, we will be releasing animals at 3 sites around the Aquarium. Volunteers and staff will be present to help you release your animals. The 3 sites are as follows:
- The Discovery Pier
- Animals will be gently lowered to the water level with a low-impact dumbwaiter system
- Fisherman’s Wharf (Harbour)
- Animals will be gently released into the harbour
- Explorer Lab Beach (Across the parking lot)
- Animals will be brought out to knee deep water and released
This year we will have a photographer present to document the day’s events. Our photographer will be visiting the aquarium and our release sites capturing the releases in action. A volunteer will be with the photographer with a photo release clipboard if you are interested in having your photo featured on our social media and website.
If you are interested in attending, please email us at Info@DiscoveryPassageAquarium.ca with the number of people in your party. This is not mandatory by any means but will help us get a good idea of numbers. Currently there are no COVID-19 restrictions that apply to our release day events, however we will have sanitizers provided and will encourage social distancing. This event is reserved for season pass holders, however if you are not a season pass holder shoot us an email and we will see if there is space for you!
