The Discovery Passage Aquarium is now hiring for summer positions!
We offer fun and unique hands-on educational experiences for people of all ages. Come to see, touch and feel our incredible local marine species and habitats and discover the diverse marine life of Discovery Passage and Islands. The Aquarium is open from spring until fall each year. Specimens from representative local species are collected from the marine environment in the spring and returned to the area of collection at the end of the season.

Summer Positions:
Aquarist (Two positions available):
Working under the direction of the Aquarium Curator & Manager, Aquarists are responsible for the animal care and maintenance of the Discovery Passage Aquarium. Aquarists assume guest experience and cashiering duties when Interpreters (who work July/August) are not present. Previously, this position was called the "Senior interpreter" role.
Interpreter (Two positions available):
Working under the direction of the Aquarium Curator & Manager, and with the guidance of Aquarists, Interpreters are responsible for the ongoing day-to-day operation of the Discovery Passage Aquarium. This includes duties related to guest experience, sales & cashiering, and basic animal husbandry. Previously, this position was called the "Junior Interpreter" role.
Volunteer Supervisor (One position available):
Working under the direction of the Aquarium Curator & Manager, and with the guidance of Aquarists, Interpreters are responsible for the ongoing day-to-day operation of the Discovery Passage Aquarium. This includes duties related to guest experience, sales & cashiering, and basic animal husbandry. Previously, this position was called the "Junior Interpreter" role.
Educator (Two positions available):
Under the guidance and supervision of the Education & Stewardship Coordinator, Educators assist with developing and delivering marine natural history interpretive and educational programs for the Discovery Passage Aquarium and Explorer Lab. This will include hosting birthday parties, summer camps, public presentations and other programs for the general public. Educators will engage with program participants and visitors, conduct demonstrations and deliver specialized programming.
