This program introduces foundational ecology concepts, such as phyla, biodiversity, and food web, through interactive group work and creative exploration. Students will work in teams to build marine food webs around live animals using strings to map out predator-prey relationships, encouraging critical thinking and collaboration. The program also provides opportunities to observe live and preserved marine invertebrates, and even get up close with animals in a touch tank experience. Tied directly to the BC Science curriculum, this session reinforces learning about local ecosystems, energy flow, and classification, while highlighting local Indigenous knowledge.
Want us to come to you? We can bring a modified version of Biodiversity to your classroom. For in-class delivery, we will supply all required materials.
Duration: 60 minutes
Cost: $60.00 (or $70.00 for in-class delivery, plus mileage to and from the program)
